Nicole Madsen

Nichole Madsen (Glenn someday....) Has ten years really gone by, that is just crazy. It kind of makes me feel old... So, what have I been doing for the last ten years, that is an awfully good question. I went to college, or I guess colleges to be more accurate. I spent one year at Snow, one at CEU, then I went down to SUU to finish my bachelors degree and I started working for Youth Corrections. That particular career choice may or may not have been inspired by people that I used to hang out with in High School.....I then moved to Salt Lake to attend the U of U and work on my Masters in Social Work. It was through my first internship that I met my future sister-in-law and she introduced me to my husband, Matt Glenn, through a blind date. We were married a couple of weeks after I graduated from the U in May of 2004. He served his mission in Hungary and was attending school. I landed a job with the LDSH/IMC transplant team working with liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant recipients and Matt continued on with his schooling. I need a moment to brag about my brilliant husband, he is pretty incredible and discovered a talent for learning languages on his mission where he learned Hungarian. He came home and took Spanish, a couple of dialects of Arabic, and some French. He spent 6 weeks in Egypt doing a study abroad program to study Arabic while I stayed home and paid the mortgage on the home that we had purchased in down town Salt Lake, about half a block from Liberty Park. Matt finished school at the U of U in May of 2008 and we sold our home and moved down to St. George where we are taking an early "retirement" before Matt finds a full time job and supports me for a change! Matt's degrees are in International Studies and Middle Eastern Studies with an emphasis in Arabic and he was Arabic student of the year. He is planning on pursuing job opportunities with one of the government agencies with hopes of being able to work internationally. I think that his secret ambitions include dragging me off to the Sudan or somewhere where I have to walk behind him, act all subservient, wear a berka, and will probably finally have to change my last name..... We expect to once again by productive and tax-paying members of society by the end of the year. We do not have any kids yet but have two dogs, which I sometimes think are almost as much work. My family moved away from Emery County while I was in college and my parents now live in Milford of all places, which is actually smaller if you can believe it. I miss being able to go to Emery County to visit. Beside the small town feel and being able to leave your home and car unlocked I also miss all the friendships because I have done less than a stellar job of keeping in touch. Life just gets busy and the next thing you know you have been out of High School for ten years! Thanks for all of those that are working to put all of this together!

Aimee (Giles) Wright

After graduation I rebelled against the norm of CEU and went to Ricks College in Idaho. About a month before I left, and a month after we graduated, I met my future husband on a blind date. After dating long distance for a year (he didn't buck the trend and was at CEU) I moved back to Utah to get married and continued my education at UVSC. Jake and I have now been married almost 9 years.

We both went to school at UVSC for awhile and then moved to Ogden to go to Weber State where Jake got his degree in Construction Management.

After he graduated we lived in Draper for about a year and then we finally bought a house and settled in Herriman three years ago.

Jake works for a custom home builder, building homes in the Salt Lake Valley and I get to stay home with our 2 children, Brooklynn who will be 6 in August and Gavin who is 2. You can read more about our family on our blog at www.hopgrasser.blogspot.com.

Every once in a while I hear updates on people we went to school with. The update that surprised me most since graduation was the fact that Garrett Conover is an Emery County Sherriff! Garrett, if you ever happen to pull me over when I'm visiting the good 'ole EC you will have to excuse my chuckling while I get my license and registration--the irony may just be too much for me. (Just kidding Garrett, if I were to choose anyone to be a deputy it would be you, you know the law inside and out!)

Carly (Davis) Simpson

Carly Davis (Soon-to-be-Simpson) After graduation I went to CEU and got my Associate's, then went into the Elementary Education program at the USU extension in Price. After graduation in 2002 I got a job teaching 5th grade at a charter school in Surprise, Arizona. Toward the end of my first year, I had my miracle son, Wesley, 16 weeks premature (1 lb. 5.6 oz; 12 inches long). He spent 4 1/2 months in the hospital and came home in July. He had a lot of problems initially, but the only long-lasting problem he has because of his prematurity is Hydrocephalus (extra spinal fluid in the brain). He has also been wearing glasses since he was 10 months old.

Over the next 3 years in Arizona I taught grades 3-8. I loved it there, but decided in May 2006 that it was time to come home and get my son (and myself) closer to our family. We came back in June of that year and I started my job teaching 4th grade at Lakeview Academy in Saratoga Springs. During that time I also met Tyler, the best significant other ever. He is going to the U, he wants to be an English teacher (I started dating him before I knew this; I swear I didn't know he was so much like my dad!). After a little over a year of dating, he proposed last November. We are getting married on October 10. I have a great little family. We live in Salt Lake and I still teach 4th grade. I love looking at the mountains every day! Wesley is now five and he starts Kindergarten this fall. He is a typical 5-year-old who cannot stop talking, has more energy than anyone I have ever known, loves dancing and water, and has the best contagious laugh. We do a lot of laughing in our little family, it's great! We are planning on coming to the reunion in August.

Ty Wakefield

This is my first blogging experience. I usually leave that to my wife. I’m not sure how this is going to go, seeing as it just took me two days to compose a text message. So please excuse my amateur blogging ability.

Before I get into what I’ve been doing for the past ten years, here are a few reminisces of high school:
-Small basketball gymnasium; oversized Joel Dorscht (sp?) sound system equipment (Do you think we can get him to DJ the reunion?)
-Our local lunch options: Food Ranch, Stewart’s, & Bob’s. The top menu items (aka Pizza Stick, Tater Tots, Maple Bars) are still with me in my cholesterol count. I need clarification on one thing, Ethan & Heidi – is it now called “Ethan’s” or “Heidi’s” or do I call one of you Bob?
-Another thing that I’d like to have at the reunion is for “psycho_chic31@hotmail.com, bamabeefcake@hotmail.com, and snugglebear4444@hotmail.com” to reveal their identities. I’ve got some guesses…
-Here’s a warning for Justin Gee: Wear a cup, because I’ve been waiting for 10 years to payback your kick to my groin in Larry Davis’ class.

After high school, I was able to spend two years in Ireland on my mission. Currently, I’m in Mesquite, NV with my wife, Jamie and our two children. Lydia is four, Drake is 2, and we have a baby due in November. Jamie & I graduated from BYU and then went to Las Vegas so I could complete my Physical Therapy degree. That pretty much covers it. (I can see now why you ladies blog all day – this is reeaaal scintillating.) Now I’ll have my four year old come over and teach me how to attach pictures…Look forward to seeing everyone in August. Until then, keep blogging it up

Lorilee (Colby) Walters

Wow, high school seems like a completely different lifetime…Well, we graduated in 1998, I graduated from Ricks College in 1999 and from Utah State University in 2000. Had to make up for all the school I missed in high school ;). I married John Walters in September 2003. We live in St. George, Utah where I am currently a counselor at the youth detention center (jail for teens). I have been working in this field in various capacities for the last 8 years. I am about mid way through graduate school working on a degree in Mental Health Counseling. I have 3 stepsons (Taylor-15, Brennan-13, and J.J.-12) who love sports, singing, dancing and performing; and a dog (Tajo-4) who loves his tennis ball and water. My latest adventure has been learning to ride a motorcycle (next best thing to horses). It's been fun seeing what is going on with those of you who have posted. I hope to see more up soon.

Amanda ("Mandy") (Swasey) Brown

I moved to Price shortly after graduating. I attended CEU and worked at KMart for 3 years. I married my husband, Brandon Brown, in April 2001. We moved to Vernal in December 2001 and bought a house in April 2002. In April 2003, our son, Easton, was born. In December 2005, I graduated from USU with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. Two weeks later, our daughter, McKenzi, was born. I have worked off and on for the Uintah School District since 2002. I was just hired in May to be a kindergarten teacher at Naples Elementary. I am so excited!!! My husband works in the oil field as a pumper for EOG Resources.
I make it back to Emery County on the average of once every other month. My family still lives there. I think I have made it back for every Peach Days since I moved to Vernal. It is nice to visit, but I don't miss it too much!
As a family, we enjoy camping, hunting, horn hunting, 4 wheeling, and fishing. I enjoy being with my children, reading, scrapbooking, and playing on the computer.
I don't know for sure if I will make it to the reunion, so I'd like to say "HI" to everyone I haven't seen in awhile.

Kent & Tara (Gundersen) Lofley

Greetings! Kent and I were married on June 30, 2001. It's been almost 7 years! I have loved being married to my handsome husband and experiencing great things with him, and our girls. Kent served his mission to Rio de Janeiro, North, Brazil. We were married 3 1/2 months later, with a babe in arms 11 months after that. Talk about rushing into the good stuff. Alison is 6 now, Brianna is 4 and Madilyn is 1. I am expecting our fourth child (crossing our fingers for a boy this time) on January 1st.
I graduated with my Bachelor's in Family and Human Development from USU in 2003. I get to stay home with my girls, and LOVE it. Kent finished his undergraduate degree in Biology from USU in 2005 and is attending medical school in Kirksville, MO. He is in his third year, set to graduate with his Master's in Biomedical Sciences in 2009 and his medical degree in 2010. I do keep a blog, that I update once in a while... http://www.lofleyfamily.blogspot.com/ .
These updates are so fun to read. Thanks Lyndsay and Weston for the work you're doing for the reunion! I think an interesting bit o' trivia would be to know how many couples from our class ended up getting hitched. Has anyone ever counted??

Mark Monfredi

Maren and I met at Snow and were married in September 2001. We have 2 boys, and another boy to be born in July. Conner is 4 years old and Paxton is 2 years old. We have been living in Spanish Fork for the last year and a half. Mark is an Operations Manager for Advanced Media Integrations in Orem and Maren stays at home with the boys and does a little accounting on the side. You can see more about our family at monfrediposse.blogspot.com.

Covy & Tara (Allred) Jones

Married: May 2001 (To state the obvious we did marry each other)
Careers: Covy is a Biologist for the Forest Service and is finishing a Master's in Plant and Animal Science. Tara is an attorney for a firm in West Jordan.
Reside: Recently bought a home in Eagle Mountain. (There may be future plans to move to Ephraim as part of work relocation).
Children: Quinten 5 and Zoey 1
What we miss about the EC:
Taking the loop.
Riding four-wheelers on the desert.
Leaving all the dances early to go play night games.
All of our friends.
Favorite Memories:
Neal Peacock throwing a stapler at Nick, even though it was Covy who was talking.
Covy cheating off of Tara in Geometry every day (this is why it took so long for us to become friends or even to date for that matter.)
The time that Landon had to dress up in some sort of costume (you can choose any time and laugh because Landon was always funny and he was always dressing up for drama, student council, homecoming, and other events).
All the rain on our class trip to Lagoon.
The time that Brother Bawden flipped Brother Doria off.
The times that Tara put Jed Jensen in a head lock.
Somethings Never Change:
Lyndsay roping us into things.

Kyle Beagley

Hello to all!
In the last ten years I’ve managed to, in no particular order: keep my same name - Kyle Beagley, go on a mission to Japan, marry Janell Seely, have three beautiful daughters – Jannika (5), Kirsten (2), and Clarissa (2 months), graduate from USU, buy a house, start my career as a wildlife biologist, and start a fine collection of Russian stacking dolls (I wish). I left out all of the jazz about hijacking 31 cars, kidnapping 10 senior citizens, serving 17 years in prison, almost saying the F word on May 7, 2002, and stealing EHS’s marching band uniforms and selling them on ebay for a HUGE profit. But that would be awkward if everyone knew all that about me and it is completely worthy of its own blog page.
Things I’m Proud of:
-My awesome family – my wife and kids are the best in the world!
-Serving faithfully as the EHS 1998 band president – an opportunity only few get to experience.
-Turning in Sam Cook when he cheated off me on our home-ec final – okay that didn’t really happen but it would have been pretty awesome.
-Making it through CEU – phew, that was like so much hardur then hi skool.
-Circling, with permanent marker, the indent where Weston broke off his front teeth on the old gym floor – that was so cool and must have hurt so bad.
-Always having great friends!
Disclaimer:
I do live in Price at this time, and it’s not all that bad of a place, but can I fathom watching my kids at a ball game wearing blue and white and yelling, “go dinos!”? That’s a tuffy.
I’ve really been blessed during the last ten years and I hope the same is true for everyone else too. I’d love to hear from anyone, my email is kkbeagley@yahoo.com.

Lyndsay (Johansen) Peterson

Name: Lyndsay Peterson
Spouse: Erik
Kids/Pets: 0
Residence: Ohio
Occupation: Environmental Lawyer
What I miss while living away from the EC: the Emery County Progress (print edition), the mountains, the desert, family, friends, lunch at Stewart's, no stoplights, not having to lock my house/car.
Some of my favorite high school memories:
*going on loooong bus rides for speech meets, softball games, volleyball games, etc.
*releasing too early whilst practicing my windmill softball pitch with a rock and hitting Mark Monfredi's shiny new car.
*going on a statewide lunch room tour with the other members of the student council
*my math book doubling in size after getting sprayed so many times by Jed Jensen.
*calling our high school teachers by their first names (e.g. Neal, J.R., Coach Dean, Larry)
*ping pong tournaments with my grand slam partner, Neal Peacock.

The rest: I graduated from BYU in 2001 with a degree in Business Management/Finance, then from BYU law school in 2004. I married Erik in December 2005, he finished his degree at the U and we moved to Ohio, where he is in his 3rd year of medical school. Some might think we're lucky to be living like the Huxtables. I think we're lucky if our house isn't a disaster and we get to see each other for more than 2 hours on consecutive days.
We're planning on being in the EC for the reunion on August 1st. See you there!

Weston Lemon

After high school, I went to CEU for a year and met my love Kristen (from Lehi). I then went on a mission to Washington DC, came home, waited for Kristen to return from her Spanish speaking mission to Houston, Texas and got married 3 months after she got home in 2002. We both worked as managers of GNC stores (mostly at Hill AFB for me and Layton Hills mall for my wife), but eventually got tired of that and I became an Appraiser for Salt Lake County. We have 2 kids, my little man Treyton (who is 2) and my new cutie Addison (who is 2 weeks). I currently live in Eagle Mountain but will be moving to Riverton soon.
